Little Known Fact:
Brekke’s first job was at a specialty toy store on Bainbridge Island where she and Gail worked for five years. It was apparent that the toy business was a great fit for this mother/daughter team.
Our Story:
Gail and Brekke are from Alaska and have lived in Washington for over twenty years. Gail earned her Teaching Certificate from Seattle University and Brekke earned her degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design from ITT Tech. In 2005 we started the specialty toy store Dragon’s Toy Box in the Pike Place Market. In 2007 the opportunity to purchase and carry on Wind Up Here’s legacy arose. We were ready to take on this challenge and are extremely proud to be the owners of this essential cornerstone of Downtown. Above all we work to bring creative, fun and caring opportunities to our community and the growing minds of every person who visits Wind Up Here.
What I Love About Olympia:
The creative soul of her community! From the children who frequent Wind Up Here to the students of Evergreen to the elected decision maker of our state; we are surrounded by the sparks of ingenuity. It’s an incredible gift to be part of a community that values self expression, creativity and variety over popularity and conformity.
